The word ‘rap’ was derived in the late 1960′s from a slang word that means conversation and is also best-known as ‘MCing’ and ‘DJing’. Composed of both rapping and record scratching, hip hop and rap has 2 historical eras, ‘old school’ era from 1970 to 1985 and ‘golden age’ era from 1985 through to today.Initially from the Bronx, hip hop and download beats have become widespread, particularly in New York via the Jamaican community, and persists to spread throughout the world.
