They access information from various databases of different phone companies and thus they charge a certain subscription fee to leak out the details of an unknown number. But now you can look up for a certain number in public directories or white pages. Even search engines like Google or Yahoo is not a bad option. Although there is no guarantee that you will definitely find the number, but still it is worth giving a try and especially when it is absolutely free.
