Are older models more trustworthy?

The first Samsung mobile I purchased was in 2003. It was SGH-N620 and had a monochrome screen with blue background. It had very few features but I bought it as it had melodious polyphonic ringtones, a novelty in those days. It had a browser also, but I somehow could never manage the settings. It is still in working condition. Only once I had to get its speaker replaced. It is an obsolete model now but I still enjoy listening to its polyphonic ringtones. My second Samsung mobile is SGH-J600 which is a sleek slider model and has features like camera, video, FM radio, GPRS, Bluetooth and expandable memory. In fact it has everything which a modern mobile handset should have. It worked fine in its guarantee period but developed some faults afterwards. Initially the screen would look like its mirror reflection and later it became totally blank. Luckily we have a Samsung mobile help and service centre in our city where I got it repaired for a hefty sum. After the repairs, the screen was all right but many of the menu options were not working properly. So a complete software reinstall had to be done. Now it is working fine. What I infer from my experiences is that the older handsets were sturdier.
