My son is wanting to take up snowboarding and wants us to get him a snowboard for his birthday this February. I think it’s a cool sport, but I don’t know anything about buying a board. I’ve been reading snowboard reviews and trying to get a feel for what we should get him, but I think that in the end, I’ll pick a good store and just get him a gift certificate and let him buy his own. That way, he can get what he wants but still know that we support his new hobby. Personally, I love receiving gift certificates and giving them are the ultimate in ease.

Getting Ready for the Golf Clinic

We’re going to have a golf clinic here at our local country club. People don’t have to be members to attend, but they do need to register in advance. There are several prominent golfers who are coming in to give things like tips on how to fix a slice or the best way to punt. The registration for it has been going really well, so far we have about 75% of the spaces filled. I think that it’s going to be a lot of fun. I hope that the weather is nice that day, but we’ve made plans to move the classes inside if we need to.

Breaking through my old golf scores

I have been playing golf for over 25 years and my game until recently has not improved much since I was a senior in high school. I guess you could say when it comes to golf I was an early bloomer. The good news is that even if I didn’t play a lot my scores didn’t get much worse. The bad news is that in the last year I have been playing once a week and my game hadn’t change a bit. That is until my friend gave me a new golf putting aid to better align my puts. Since I started using this device I have taken about 5 strokes off of my golf score. I didn’t think it was possible to improve my golf score after all these years.

The newest tech on the market

There are all sorts of cool things slated for release in 2010. One of them is from Apple. Apple knows of and supports AT&T’s future 3G plans, the iPhone creator said during its December quarter conference call on Monday. Addressing a question over AT&T network problems or beach cruisers, Apple said it has seen AT&T’s plans for upgrades and is confident that the carrier will make “very significant progress” on improving the capacity of the network. Specific details of what this would involve weren’t mentioned. I think this is going to be an awesome new product for them this year. 

The Kind of Summer That lasts Forever

This summer has been the kind of summer that I wish could last forever.  I am not super big on summer time usually.  But this has been the best summer of my life.  I spent most of it surfing in the sun.  I love getting out there and catching the waves.  There is just something so magical about being out there with nature and not letting the cares of the world bog you down.  I have grown to love this way of life. It’s so much more than I ever could have imagined that it would be.  I cannot wait for next summer to do it again. 

USA Women’s soccer is first in FIFA rankings

The usa womens soccer team is first in the FIFA rankings as of January 2010. According to ussoccer.com team head coach Pia Sundhage has named a 26 player roster to continue to training camp Jan. 17-Feb. 4 in Southern California. The roster is a change from the 29 player roster Sundhage used in the 2009 match ups.

The roster includes 19 WPS players, six of which are top picks for the WPS draft. The team will be competing in the 2010 Algarve Cup. Last year, they lost out to Sweden in the championship game.
